Hope you get rich

2024 is the year of the dragon and "making more moneys"

đź’° Hope you get rich this year!

As another Lunar New Year nears, Ronny Chieng and his netflix special always pops into my head. He cracks jokes about how Chinese people outwardly love money and are not shy about it. They love it so much that they celebrate a holiday around giving and receiving money, as well as honoring Caishen, the God of Money. It’s all jokes, but I do realize that our parents’ generation cared so much about saving and making money as a means for a better life (for them and the next generation).

We get to do the same, but in a different world with technology, more opportunity, and digital connectivity. While I don’t believe money is always the source of happiness, it does give you the options to build a life that will make you happy. As a result, our newsletters will hopefully continue providing high quality opportunities, travel news, and more. Feel free to respond to this email with topics you’d like to hear about.

So like how Ronny says it, “Hope you get rich!”

Fun facts to know about Lunar New Year, February 10th
  • You're supposed to avoid putting coins in the envelopes, only crisp, clean bills. 💵 You would want to avoid giving out bills in numbers like 40 or 400 because 4 is considered unlucky.

  • Always receive your red envelope with both hands. It is impolite to accept a red envelope with just one hand. It’s also important to greet the gracious giver with an auspicious phrase ✨

  • There is a custom that if you are not married, you need not send red envelopes to others. According to NextShark, “It’s practically the law. Married couples should give red envelopes to younger, unmarried relatives. Single people are spared from that obligation. Children of any age may receive red envelopes.”
