I hate networking, but here's my hack
As a community founder, I play to my strengths and am careful with my social batteries.
In community management, you can expect to have at least 50+ touch points a day. That includes colleagues, work partners, AWWs, my family, my friends, and more. I’ve recently thought about how to tactfully handle and manage my time better.
How I Plan to Manage my Social Batteries this Year 🔋
Delete distractions - I’ve deleted FB Messenger, deactivated my personal TikTok accounts; I’ve also never had FB/Meta on my phone. I’ve also decided to deprioritize Instagram, while focusing on YouTube (where I’m actually currently monetized). As for AWW social channels, we schedule and plan them out on Buffer, which doesn’t require team to be on Instagram
I mute most of my app notifications and my phone is on Creative Mode 80% of the time - immediate responses are not always warranted and can be answered when I come up with a thoughtful response. Voice notes are also great for efficiency’s sake and helpful with tone inflection and context

Found this on IG and loved it! Year of the snake, I’m ready.
Meet people in ways that energize and fuel me - As a community leader, I really prefer to meet folks in smaller, intimate groups than be dropped into a sea of 50 and meeting people randomly. For the RE:DEFINE Summit for 2025 in Singapore, we want to be intentional by making it as easy as possible to connect and help AWWs find the right people they want to connect with (for both introverts and extroverts).
My Hacks for Networking
I see networking as opportunities to make new friends; instead of dreading it, I think about how I can make networking more fun, and what value I can bring to the discussions, not what I can personally gain
I batch people up together to meet up, simply bc I know they’ll get along (energy wise) and I can meet both at the same time
I complement my meetup with something I enjoy doing, ie tennis, remote working at a cafe, or going for a nice walk
What are your ways for networking or maintaining a good social battery? Let me know by emailing back! I know we’re only at the start of 2025, but I’m pretty excited for the year of the snake and what’s to come.
Best,
AWW team
