Another popular travel destination has announced its nomad visa! According to the Japan Times, the Japanese government has tentatively set a launch date of March 2024 to roll out a six-month visa for digital nomads.

Visa Qualifications šŸŒŽ

  • Applicants must make a minimum of Ā„10 million per year (roughly USD$68,341 based on current conversion rates).

  • They must have private international health coverage, not Japanā€™s.

  • People who are self-employed or considered independent contractors must show proof of work and documentation.

  • Spouses and children will be allowed to live in Japan with the visa holder. They must be covered by private international insurance as well.

  • The visa will be offered to visitors from 49 countries and territories, including the United States, Australia, and more.

How to get the visa from Japan šŸ‡ÆšŸ‡µ

Weā€™re still waiting on new details since thereā€™s no concrete details. Like normal visa processes, interested applicants will most likely need necessary documents and evidence of their employment and apply at a local Japanese embassy.

Afar Magazine says, ā€œWe can expect more specifics to emerge in the coming weeks as the program gets closer to its official launch date this March.ā€
